Hello, my name is Katie Jerdee and I'm in my 3rd year at Northeastern University in Boston, MA.

On November 2 of last year, I suffered a stroke during a run with the Northeastern Club Soccer team. It was in my right cerebellum and it left me having to learn how to use my right side again. This included writting, walking, running, as well as my balance, coordination, and some of my motor skills.

A little under a year, and after lots of rehab, I have been able to join my team on the field again this past season.

On April 21, I will be running the Boston Marathon on Tedy's Team... a team Tedy Bruschi of the NE Patriots created to raise money for stroke awareness. I'm running for myself, everyone that has had a stroke, and to make sure no one has to go through what I went through.

What helped me offset many of the horrible after-effects of stroke was getting to the hospital FAST. Because timing is everything, being aware of the warning signs are so important. Sudden dizziness, confusion, slurring of speech, and numbness on one side of the body are some of them.

Overcoming a stroke has been the hardest thing I've ever had to do... and now this is going to be right up there with it! Please help me reach my goal of $5,000 so on April 21 I can run the 26.2 miles to help end stroke!
